Citizens for Good Design - urban and city planning discussions
Active18 is a citizens, residents and business-owners association in Ward 18 - the West Queen West precinct in the city of Toronto.
Active18 is a 'voice' which directly speaks to and with our elected officials, real-estate developers, architects and land owners in the West Queen West area. We help define what residents and citizens want to see in their neighbourhoods - for the creation of thoughtful and livable neighbourhoods.
Our purpose is to inform and engage citizens in the development in the area and beyond. We work on planning issues; the potentials and importance of good urban planning; for visioning and for place-making.
We believe in knowledge sharing with other community groups and work hard to engage citizens in the debates and discussions around a broad range of
urban planning topics - from park designs, to Artists Live-Work solutions, to creating a vibrant Public realm, to intensification, to Art in Public places, etc.
Active18 formed in late 2005 in response to proposed development pressures in the south of Queen St West in the Queen Street Triangle. We have a growing membership list of approximately 400 people.
