VFW Member Eligibility: The fundamental difference between our organization and other veterans organizations, and one in which we take great pride, is our eligibility qualifications. There are three primary requisites for membership in the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States:
(1) Citizenship (2) Honorable service in the armed forces of the United States (3) Service entitling the applicant to the award of a recognized campaign medal or as set forth in the Congressional Charter and By-Laws and Manual of Procedure and Ritual.
Membership in the Auxiliary VFW shall be limited to wives, widows, mothers, foster and stepmothers (prior to age 16), grandmothers, daughters, granddaughters, foster and stepdaughters (prior to age 16) and for whom the duties duties of parent were performed, sisters, half sisters, foster and stepsisters (prior to age 16) of persons who were or are elibible for membership in the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States. Members must be citizens of the United States and not less than 16 years old.
Women eligible for membership in the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States shall be eligible for dual membership in the Auxiliary.
