14 reviews and 3 photos of FIJI AIRWAYS "I will never fly your airlines again!!! I'd rather eat bull testicles ... RAW ... than to ever choose your airline ever, ever, ever again.
Several weeks ago, my boyfriend + I boarded our flights headed from Honolulu International Airport (HNL) en route to Apia, Western Samoa, and onwards to Nadi, Fiji. After a combined 7 hours of flying time, and 2-3 hours of waiting to depart and board planes at 3 different airports, we landed in Nadi,Fiji to learn that our suitcases never left Honolulu!!!!
No rhyme or reason. It wasn't a mistake or oversight. Your employees intentionally + blatantly left our luggage in Honolulu. There were no apologies, concern, or empathy that was given to me, my boyfriend, and nearly a dozen other passengers who left Honolulu w/us + arrived in Fiji. Meanwhile, the passengers from Western Samoa who boarded the plane, along with some additional passengers from Honolulu, all received their luggage. Hell, Jack Johnson, his wife, 3 young keiki, and his extended 'ohana ALL received their check-in luggage + half a dozen surfboards! From what we were told, our luggage wasn't put on the plane because the people in Western Samoa traveling to Fiji had too much luggage with them.
TOP 5 REASONS WHY MY EXPERIENCE WITH YOU SUCKED:
1) The consolation prize you gave us: reimbursement of up to $100 worth of purchases of clothing + toiletries in Nadi, Fiji per passenger. $100 in Fiji dollars = $50 U.S. dollars. We were to provide you with receipts + you'd reimbursement us the next day. This wouldn't be so bad if Nadi, Fiji had an assortment of clothing/department stores, a mall, or a drugstore to go to. This is a country akin to semi-third world conditions. The shops were closed by the time we checked into our hotel and got settled in at 6 p.m. We had no car + da nearest shopping center was several miles away. Thankfully, our hotel had a small sundries store we could purchase some clothing and hygienic items.
2) After having 1 hour of sleep da night before, experiencing 10 hours of travel time (flight time, waiting around airports, etc.), AND being on my period, hearing that my luggage never left Honolulu AND would arrive nearly 5 days later when I was to be in a totally different country DOES NOT BODE WELL! No panties, no bras, and only 2 extra pads to tide me through the night. In addition, the country I was traveling to was experiencing temperatures of 30 - 40 degrees Fahrenheit + all of my winter coats, pants, socks, and shoes were in da luggage.
3) After spending our allotted $100 per person allowance on clothing + hygienic items, we headed back to the Fiji Airport the next day + waited to get reimbursed. Only to be told that we'd be reimbursed in Auckland, New Zealand. So much for traveling through the Fiji Airport, finding your tiny office + wasting our time being told that we would be reimbursed LATER at a different airport in a different country. More misinformation given! We gladly left Fiji and headed to Auckland, NZ.
4) We arrive in Auckland, NZ, find the Air Pacific cargo/luggage area, inquire about our reimbursements, and are told that we need to head to a DIFFERENT OFFICE in a DIFFERENT AREA of the airport in order to get our $200 reimbursements. We head down there, but are told that NO ONE IS IN THE OFFICE. Can you get your stuff together for the love of God, Buddha, Krishna, watevah da hell is up dea?
5) May I repeat: you INTENTIONALLY + BLATANTLY left behind the luggage of my boyfriend, myself, and about a dozen other passengers in Honolulu. Many of us were traveling to destinations completely different from the 2 stopovers we had in Western Samoa + Fiji. It was a calculated and devious action on your part, and NONE of your employees expressed any regrets, apologies, or the like.
* Air Pacific did rectify the situation by flying our luggage from HNL to Auckland, NZ via Air New Zealand. Thus, we received all of our luggage the very next day, but the events that started and progressed left me with a bitter taste in my mouth. Boyfriend + I have not received our reimbursements, we wasted time going through two different airports in two different countries trying to get our money back, and the customer service we received from the Air Pacific employees was horrendous.
