They did not serve alcohol on the Cairo to JFK leg. Juices, sodas, or waters. The food was airplane food - edible and gives you something to do on a 12 hour flight.
I do have to say that the baggage handling gets 5 stars. Between all of the tourists doing inter-Egypt flights, my 2 pieces of luggage wasn't lost. My luggage was even delayed getting from Sharm to Cairo and with changing terminals I decided to proceed with check-in at Cairo so I didn't miss my flight to JFK and leave my baggage behind. Right before the airplane doors closed the Egyptair representative came on to the plane and came to my seat and gave me baggage check tickets. They got my luggage, checked it in for me all of the ways through to LAX and brought me claim tags. I was extremely impressed.
A new terminal at Cairo International just opened for Egyptair. I was actually on one of the first flights out of there on opening day. It's a nice, modern terminal. Between the plane upgrades and new terminal, it is noticeable that Egyptair is investing in its future."
