Hey everyone, I wanted to get a discussion going on what works best for flea and tick control: the Seresto Collar or the traditional flea shampoos and sprays.
I’ve used flea shampoos and sprays for years and they definitely help in the moment. You can wash off fleas on the spot, and the sprays often kill bugs pretty quickly. That said, the protection is short. Within a day or two, it feels like the effect wears off, especially if your pet is rolling around outside or gets wet.
That’s where the Seresto Collar comes in. Once you put it on, you get continuous protection for up to eight months without needing to reapply. I honestly didn’t expect it to hold up this well, but it seems to keep working even after baths or a few swims. For busy owners who don’t want to deal with weekly treatments, that consistency is a big win.
Here’s what I see as the main differences:
Seresto Collar
* Long-term protection with minimal effort
* Lasts for months
* Works even after water exposure
* More costly upfront
Flea Shampoos and Sprays
* Fast action on existing fleas
* Good if you need immediate relief
* Needs frequent reapplication
* Better for pets that can’t use collars
In my experience, shampoos and sprays are great if you catch a problem early. But for ongoing protection, especially in high-flea areas, the Seresto Collar seems to keep bugs away better and with less fuss.
What’s your experience? Have you tried both? Did one work better for your pet’s lifestyle? Let’s hear it.
