Caroline Fund supports the Caroline Vandemark Fund for Brain and Spine Tumor Research at Hackensack UMC.
Caroline Vandemark, a 22 year old from Caldwell, New Jersey graduated from East Stroudsburg with a Bachelors degree in Psychology. Caroline was often referred to as everbody's best friend and could always be found with a smile on her face. In her free time she enjoyed yoga and spending time with her friends. In June 2012, Caroline was diagnosed with a glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer that currently has few effective treatment options.
Although Caroline endured many rounds of radiation, chemotherapy, surgeries and doctors vists, she never once complained. Caroline was a peaceful and positive young woman setting a standard that all her friends wished to reach.
Caroline continued to live her life as normally as possible and continued to take college courses. Caroline fought the fight of her life. Her energy radiated in a room like sunshine and she made the perfect patient for she aspired to one day be a nurse. Caroline lost her battle to cancer in June of 2013 at Hackensack University Medical Center surrounded by her family and friends.
Caroline was blessed with the most dedicated and caring team of oncologist, surgeon and nurses you could find. Dr. Goldlust and Dr. Kaptain established the Caroline Vandemark Fund for Brain and Spine Tumor Research at the John Theurer Cancer Center at Hackensack University Medical Center. We invite you to help us raise money to one day find a cure for glioblastoma and other types of brain and spine tumors!
