Aiming begins with proper setup. You'll need a level surface (a flat garage floor or empty parking lot), a vertical wall (a garage door or blank wall), and some painter's tape. Ensure your Jeep is in its normal riding condition: full fuel tank, standard cargo, and correct tire pressure. If you have a lift or heavier bumper, this is part of your new normal. Park the Jeep perpendicular to the wall, about 25 feet (approximately 7.6 meters) away. This is the standard distance used by mechanics and allows for accurate adjustment. Measure from the ground to the center of your primary low-beam headlight and mark this height on the wall with a horizontal line of tape. Next, measure the distance from the center of one headlight to the other and mark these two vertical centerpoints on the wall, aligned with your headlights. You now have a "T" for each light to target.
