An appropriate Tac-14 heat shield is constructed to fit closely. It is positioned above the barrel and it remains in position on recoil. Most use steel with vent cuts. These cuts allow the heat to escape and leave hands in safety. Good shields do not rattle. They do not recoil following shooting. They install without a drill or a tool that will harm the shotgun. Weight matters too. A tight shield is a good addition that does not overburden the front.
