Midway along the barrel, skin touches a shield rather than bare metal. Heat builds quickly during rapid fire; everyone knows that. Just past the front sight, a guard slides into place, stopping glowing warmth from escaping. Shots keep coming, piling up temperature toward the tip. Hands stay close to an area designed to stay cool enough. That outside layer registers heat, sure, just not burning hot. Fingers meet metal, and then pain follows and no glove mean trouble. Heat pools at that spot faster than you’d think.
