Sonam Wangchuk Shifted to Hospital as Hunger Strike Enters Day 21, Student Protests Intensify

A nationwide discussion of education reforms and students’ rights has become more intense following the shift of climate activist and education reformer Sonam Wangchuk to a hospital in Delhi on the 21st day of his indefinite hunger strike. It is worth mentioning that hundreds of students and supporters were protesting at Jantar Mantar in order to press authorities about the allegations of irregularities in the examinations and transparency of the education system in India. Medical reasons have been named as the major justification of authorities for the hospitalization of Wangchuk, while protesters stated that it was not necessary and called on people to continue peaceful demonstrations.
