The College of Education proudly prepares educators to serve and lead in public and private K-12 schools world-wide.
The College of Education is the largest college in the University, accounting for nearly half of the overall student body of the university. Its mission statement reads: Professional education programs at Grand Canyon University are designed to support and promote the university’s mission to prepare learners to become global citizens, critical thinkers, effective communicators, and responsible leaders from the context of its Christian heritage.
The College of Education inspires excellence in pedagogy and scholarship; advances reflective, innovative, and collaborative teaching practices to maximize student learning and achievement; promotes servant leadership in educational communities; and engages a diverse and global community of learners with purpose and passion. All of its programs are approved by the Arizona State Board for Private Postsecondary Education and its teacher and administrator credentialing programs are approved by the Arizona State Board of Education.
The College has an outstanding reputation among Arizona school districts and many others around the country, which look to quickly hire its graduates. Its professors are highly qualified in their fields, having earned numerous awards as authors, presenters, and teachers. They use multiple means of instruction to train learners to use these in their own educational environments one day. Finally, most of its programs require learners to spend between100-200 hours in quality practicum/field experiences prior to student teaching or internship.
