For 35 years ASPI has worked as an advocate for environmental protection, sustainability and social justice, plus demonstration of appropriate technologies that empower people to improve their lives and communities. Appalachia – Science in the Public Interest (ASPI), a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, was founded in 1977 in eastern Kentucky and is the oldest sustainable advocacy organization in the state. ASPI has two appropriate technology demonstration centers in Rockcastle County, KY and the Kentucky Solar Partnership operates from Frankfort, KY. ASPI’s main office is located in Mt. Vernon, KY, also the site of one of our demonstration centers. For over 30 years ASPI has worked as an advocate for environmental protection, sustainability and social justice, plus demonstration of appropriate technologies that empower people to improve their lives and communities.
