The Bergen County Academies, commonly referred to as the Academies due to its 7 academic and professional divisions, is a tuition-free public magnet high school located in Hackensack, New Jersey that serves students in ninth through twelfth grades from Bergen County, New Jersey, United States.Admission to the Academies is highly competitive at about 16%, as the school typically accepts 250 of over 1,500 applicants every year through a process that includes exams and interviews. BCA is considered the most rigorous of the three Bergen County Technical Schools. Founded in 1991, BCA is regularly sorted out as one of the 23 highest performing high schools in the United States by the Washington Post and in 2015 was ranked by Newsweek as the number 5 public high school in America.As of the 2012-13 school year, the school had an enrollment of 1,062 students and 91.9 classroom teachers, for a student–teacher ratio of 11.56:1.
