The nickel mine production is 2,865.5 thousand tonnes (kt) in 2022. Nickel production is expected to project a CAGR of more than 3% during 2023–2026. The output from Colombia, Indonesia, New Caledonia, Brazil, Russia, and China will be significant contributors to the overall growth. In contrast, production is expected to decline in South Africa, the Philippines, and Finland, owing to lower production from the Oktyabrsky and Taimyrsky mines and the closure of the African Rainbow Minerals’ Nkomati mine in 2021. China was the largest importer of nickel ores and concentrates in the world, followed by South Korea and Japan.
